My name is Danny Kung and I am a senior at Washington and Lee University. I went to high school at the Episcopal School of Dallas and graduated in 2019. At Washington and Lee, I am majoring in Business Administration and Computer Science and am involved in the Perry Minority Athlete Coalition and the Diversified Capital Group on campus. I also have experiences working in the finance industry and play on the Washington and Lee men’s lacrosse team.
The process I used to find this information was through Google. I used the Wayback Machine website, however, was unable to find anything on me. I Googled my name and then used three different words after to collect my information, “esd” (my high school), “Dallas” (my hometown), and “Washington and Lee” (my current university). One of the most consistent top searches for these was my personal Twitter account. My Twitter profile doesn’t really have much personal information about what I do at W&L though. The most helpful website was my LinkedIn profile which includes information on what high school I went to and what types of things I am involved in at W&L. One thing I was surprised to see and totally forgot about was a website I created in 8th grade for my English class.
Most of my personal information such as what high school I went to and what college was easy to find. I found it difficult to find what year I was specifically born and in what city which I think is a good thing. My web presence has not really changed over time as I wasn’t able to find anything from my childhood. I was always taught from when I first started using the Internet that whatever you post, share, or say will stay there forever even if it is deleted. My thoughts on this topic stay the same as I always think before I post anything and make sure not to post any really personal information. Most of the information was from social media, but the information could also be found on team websites. If a researcher from the future is trying to learn more about me, they are missing really personal information and also learning about things I am interested in besides school and sports. They are also missing information on my childhood when I was really young.
